KAESER check: identify compressed air problems & preventbreakdowns

A compressor is at the heart of your production. If the compressed air supply fluctuates, the entire operation can come to a standstill. Our expert guide helps you recognise warning signs in your KAESER system early and prevent costly emergency repairs through targeted maintenance.

Is the compressor overheating and shutting down?

Symptom: excessive temperature (compressor overheating)

How can I recognise it? The control system (e.g. SIGMA CONTROL) displays warnings or shuts the unit down as a precaution.
The cause: Dirty coolers, a blocked oil filter or an incorrect oil level are common causes. Insufficient ventilation in the compressor room can also cause heat to build up.
Our solution: We professionally clean the cooling system, carry out an oil service using KAESER original coolants and check operating conditions at the installation site.

Is pressure dropping or air delivery decreasing?

Symptom: pressure loss or insufficient air delivery

How can I recognise it? Operating pressure falls under load even though the compressor runs continuously.
The cause:Leaking hoses or a blocked oil separator cartridge. Leaks in the pipework may also be responsible.
Our solution: We inspect the system, replace wear parts with KAESER original spare parts and optimise the controls for maximum efficiency.

Are there unusual vibrations or running noises?

Symptom: unusual vibrations or loud running noise

How can I recognise it? A grinding or knocking noise directly at the airend or motor.
The cause: Early bearing damage in the airend or motor, or an imbalance in the drive.
Risk: Bearing damage in the airend or motor can cause the rotors to seize, often making repair of the unit uneconomical.
Our solution: We analyse the noise as quickly as possible. If necessary, we overhaul or replace the airend and replace bearings preventively before more serious damage occurs.

Is my KAESER compressor still worth repairing?

KAESER systems are known for their exceptional durability. Repair is often the most economical option:

  • Preserving value: Because we use only KAESER original parts , your system retains its original efficiency and long service life.
  • Speed: Replacing the airend or motor, or carrying out an overhaul, is often quicker than delivering and installing a completely new system, including changes to foundations and pipework.
  • Maintenance: Regular maintenance extends your compressor’s service life and helps prevent damage and breakdowns.

Compressed air without unnecessary risk: We give honest advice on when repair is worthwhile and when upgrading is the better financial choice.
